Lessons in Liberty is a series of lectures and courses sponsored by The Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE) to help citizens better understand the source of liberty in our American Christian Constitutional Republic. The speakers are authoritative and the lectures topical. Join like-minded patriots who love God’s Word, and together, master the “lessons of liberty” so you can be used of God to help bring every aspect of culture “captive to the obedience of Christ.”

The Power of Words

Monday, January 15, 7:00-8:30 p.m. EST

What happens when the meaning of words become relative to the situation?

Today in our culture, much of what we have known to be true is now fluid, from our identity to the words we use to communicate ideas. Language is the expression of ideas, our means of preserving and protecting those ideas comes through the power of our words.

Words and language are our common means of understanding reality. Language is the gift of God to man for our good, but language wielded by those who would have power becomes a means of conquest.

In post-modern worldview terms, the deconstruction of language, or linguistic relativism, leaves us with the need to develop a new skill—discerning the intent of language we hear commonly used to form opinion, plant doubt and question convictions.

Ignorance of the power of language leaves us and our children vulnerable to false “realities.”

This conquest of America by words is the topic we will be addressing in our Lessons in Liberty series, Monday, January 15. Join us as Carole G. Adams, Ph.D., President of The Foundation for American Christian Education tackles this subject and offers solutions to restore our God-given language and elevate our words to the language of liberty.

Dr. Adams serves as senior editor of The Noah Plan, a Principle Approach K-12 curriculum used in schools and home schools. She is the author of The Christian Idea of the Child—the seedbed philosophy statement of The Noah Plan curriculum. She authored the The Noah Plan English Language Curriculum Guide and Classic Grammar—the English program integrated with classic literature and the Bible. Dr. Adams is the editor of The Journal of the Foundation for American Christian Education, an academic journal that features articles on prominent historical themes and figures that advanced the cause of liberty in America and beyond.
