School Choice: The Best Opportunity for Every Child

On Monday, March 13th in our classroom and live online, 7:00-9:00 pm EST

Choice is fundamental to freedom. The more choices you have, the more freedom you have and the more enjoyable life is. Why does our government insist that one’s zip code determines where one goes to school? This is one of the most restricting of choices in our culture. Millions of parents would choose otherwise if they could. They would love the ability to choose a different public school in their area, a charter school, a private school, homeschool or a homeschool-school hybrid. However, for a significant number of families these choices are not an option. They are prevented from accessing what they consider an excellent education. Their children are forced to accept an inferior education, dangerous conditions, and socialist/humanistic brainwashing because they cannot afford to make choices that others can. Is there a solution to this problem? Yes, but we must have the will to buck the status quo. Powerful forces and huge sums of money are on the side of continuing the government school monopoly and system that insists that it’s “my way or the highway.” Let’s talk about solutions.

Max Lyons served as teacher and administrator in three Christian schools since 1979. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Virginia Wesleyan College, a Masters in Christian School Administration from Regent University, and a Ph.D. in Christian Education from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He currently serves as Director of Teaching Services at The Foundation for American Christian Education. He is the author or co-author of five books. Max and his wife Margie have 4 adult children and 7 homeschooled and Christian schooled grandchildren.
